Masopust

On Saturday we visited our Czech family in Besednice. We happened to arrive at the same time as Masopust or carnival. Masopust and carnival probably derive from words meaning without meat. This happens in the run up to lent.

Masopust in the Czech Republic tends to be an excuse for grown men to act stupid in the pursuit of money for beer.

I was silly enough to volunteer for a "hair cut". This was more hair conditioning, with ketchup, colour and shaving cream being added to my hair (see below).

It was quite fun, but probably its not a great idea to participate in something that encourages people to drink... Mea culpa...
