Going out to cafe and pubs in the Czech Republic

Almut and I had over the last few weeks had opportunities to go out on a few dates while her parents were here and taking care of Alex. We had some interesting experiences! See below for the reviews of the establishments we visited in České Budějovice.

One evening we went to three places in the IGY Centrum:

  • Potrefená Husa: Good service, but please let us sit down before you ask us what to drink! We need a few moments. Sorry we left, but too much smoking and not enough space in the non-smoking area.
  • Coffee & Co.: Please serve us. To the lovely waitress that didn't serve us, please don't show to other customers the bandages on your fingers and peel them in front of them and us. It doesn't make us want to come back... ever...
  • Peace Cafe: Thanks that you served us quickly and well. But really you should clean the tables first before looking at what your colleague is doing on the computer.
One morning we went to a café:
  • Ruby Cafe: Nice decor; probably all from IKEA. The coffee was fine, but really espresso shouldn't be that big. More to the point, provide fresh food to your customers. Customers don't generally like mould on their croissants. And don't charge them if they complain. They probably won't come back.
Another evening:
  • Vin de café: Nice looking place. Good service. Just a shame that the prices are soooo expensive!
Almut went to a couple of times to another cafe in the IGY Centrum:
  • Ice Prentau: First time. Tirimasu shouldn't generally have hair as an ingredient. Second time. Please serve your customers, especially as you weren't busy.
Finally we went to a pub in Hotel Gomel a couple of times:
  • Not flash, just a pub restaurant, but good food, good service and good prices. We will be back!
