Four-tonne iron bridge goes missing in western Bohemia

Cheb, Feb 18 (CTK) - An unknown Czech perpetrator stole an iron bridge on an unused rail line between Cheb and Stary Hroznatov, west Bohemia, at the end of last year and the Cheb police have started investigating the theft, police spokesman Ladislav Boehm told CTK Monday.

"An unknown perpetrator stole a four-tonne railway bridge sometimes between December 5, 2007, and January 11, 2008," Boehm said.

He caused the railways the damage that amounts to 20,000 crowns, Boehm said.

It is most probable that the railway bridge ended up in a scrap metal shop.

The Cheb police often investigate thefts of metals, and the damage caused mainly by the thefts of nonferrous metals amounts to tens or even hundreds of thousands of crowns, Boehm said.
