Church on Maundy Thursday

Went to the Catholic Church in Kaplice with my Czech family on Thursday evening. There were a few things quite different from my usual experience of Roman Catholic churches in the Czech Republic.

The first was that the priest greeted me during the peace. Honestly it is the first time that a priest has ever greeted me in a service. The second was that we had a meal after. The priest in Besednice tends to disappear right after the service and very rarely spends time with the congregation at the end of the service (admittedly he cares several churches).

Second, at the church in Kaplice the priest invited the whole church to a meal (symbolising the Last Supper). He then served food and drinks to the guests. For me I think it is important that people are made to feel welcome when they come to church. So I think this was good... That being said, I honestly don't know what he preached in the service. It could have been absolute heresy!
