Graduation Ball

I have started to get used getting invited somewhere and not actually knowing what I am getting myself into. At Christmas one of the cousins of the family I live with invited me, with Petr and Lida to a ball. On Saturday I went and it turned out that it was a graduation ball for students finishing high school. They had a packed programme of events:
* Introduction (late, about an hour later than advertised)
* Ballroom dance routine (the two women involved were not wearing that much especially since they were throwing themselves across the dance floor with much vigour)
* Presentation of the graduation class (first a video, then a, I suppose, promenade of the students to one of the theme tunes from Kill Bill 2, and then presentation of individual students. Each student is announced then processes up a red carpet while friends and family shower them with coins - the young men seemed more worried about being hit than the women)
* A Czech Latin American band called the Yo-yo band (were really good)
* A martial arts presentation by Czech Taekwondo national representatives
* The Yoyo band again...

By this time Petr, Lida and myself were beginning to flag and went home. The ball continued until 4 or 5 in the morning...
