Temelin staff fails to connect turbine to grid
České Budějovice, Aug 2 (CTK) - The staff at the nuclear power plant in Temelin have connected the turbine of the second unit to the power grid early this morning but 20 minutes later the turbine was disconnected as its temperature rose slightly, Temelin spokesman Milan Nebesar told CTK.
"The turbine's temperature rose by 2 degrees Celsius, and one of the protection systems automatically disconnected it," said Nebesar.
When the turbine will be connected again will be decided later this morning.
The second block had to be shut down on Monday night because of a leak in the turbine's regulatory oil system.
The first unit is also shut down for refuelling.
The second block was out of operation for five days in early July because of a defect on the generator switch.
