Classmates

There are an interesting mix of people on the 2 week Czech language course that I am taking. In my class (encouragingly called false begginers) are 2 Poles, 2 English, an Italian, Hungarian, French, German, American (who happens to be a missionary), Norwegian, Turkish and Chinese students. There are various different reasons for studying Czech. Some have Czech friends, want to study here (at some, if not all universities it is free to study at university, unforfunately not the the Czech language course!), need it for work (the missionaries), are interested in the Czech culture or have wives/girlfriends who are Czech. The Chinese student is interesting. He is studying Czech in China, but I don't quite know why...
