Christmas in the Czech Republic

Here are some photos of my first Christmas in the Czech Republic. It was mostly spent in the small village of Besednice, near Ceske Budejovice. I spent it with the Czech family that I have been living with. We had three family gatherings, Christmas Eve (apparently the day you open presents!), Christmas day and Boxing Day (The feast of St Stephen). Unfortunately several of us took turns in having a mild stomach bug. The photos I have chosen are mostly about carp. Carp is an important part of a Christmas in the Czech Republic. You will see dinner swimming, being slaughtered (sorry vegetarians) and on the table with the family around. Also shown is a outside nativity play that lots of the villagers went to watch. It was outside and very cold!

Oh, James, there's no need to carp on about the fish.
